My favorite 5 Advantages of Alpaca Natural Fiber

1. YOUR PURCHASE HAS DOUBLE IMPACT
When you purchase a Barbery Knits creation, you don’t only support the artisan that knits the creation, but you support the small producer bethind. They depend on exporting this wonderful fiber to survive.
4. LACK OF LANOLIN & HYPOALLERGENIC
Alpaca natural fiber is warmer and softer than wool and has no lanolin. The lack of lanolin makes it naturally hypoallergenic. Lanolin is an oil generated by sheep that can cause sensitivity in people
2. ALPACA RANCHING IS ECO-FRIENDLY
Alpacas are one of the greenest animals on the planet. They produce more fleece than sheep and they have more effective eating and drinking habits than other grazing animals, which also reduces impact. They are suited to the harsh conditions of the Andes, and are not harmed during the shearing process making them highly sustainable. Most importantly, alpaca farming does not require harsh chemicals – this means that alpaca farming is completely safe and natural for the environment.
3. HANDMADE TO LAST A LIFETIME
This prestigious yarn is known and cherished worldwide. With the proper care, alpaca creations are family heirlooms and keepsake types of gifts.
Alpaca fiber can be indestructible: just imagine the ancient Inca textiles in museums! They have kept their color, shape and form even after 2000 years…
5. THERMAL INSULATION
Adapts perfectly to winter.

Alpaca Washing Instructions

Caring for your Alpaca Winter Accessory
Storage
Choose a dry place to fold your alpaca garment gently and carefully. Do not hang — This can stretch your garment instantly. We don’t recommend plastic bags to avoid moisture. Some natural helpers to repel common bugs are cedar chips and lavender bunches. Little secret: Find a quality paper box (with nice thickness) every off-season to store your alpaca piece. This will provide extra protection.

Ironing
If you wish to iron, gently and quickly (no vapor). Little secret: Place a towel on top of garment for extra protection.
